LPT: don't follow the cooking instructions on the box

when heating up food, don't blindly follow what's printed on the box. oftentimes the instructions represent values other than deliciousness.

  • i like east coast style pizza, and envy their hot coal ovens. with frozen pizza find that setting the oven to max (500) and watching it till it's done is the way to go. none of that 350 bs, which makes for limp and chewy pizza.

  • for dente pasta. i literally halve the time on the package for pasta, because for some reason, the packaging always makes for mushy pasta.

there are probably tons of examples, but i was a blind instruction follower for most of my life.
