Advice needed on Lotus Flower Stitch

Hello knitit's! This is my first post here, I am looking for a little advice on correctly doing the stitch in the link below. I'm most likely at an intermediate knowledge level, and I have had no luck finding a video or further explanation on the p5togm5 part of the pattern. I am able to purl 5 together and leave them on the left neddle without a problem, it's the written description of the making new stitches that's causing me some confusion. If anyone can shed some wisdom on this part, I would be very appreciative! :) Thanks for reading, oh and I love seeing everyone's creations, there's a lot of creativity here :) I will post my finished project once I figure this all out haha.
