Portable Speakers?

Hi, I'm not a major audiophile so I'm not too sure where to start searching or what other products are out there besides the big name generic companies but I'm looking for some pretty decent portable speakers that I can use for when I'm dancing(haha) and that will be clean enough to hear in a big aerobics room. Just something I can hook my mp3 or laptop to. I'm a college kid and its something for our club so my budget is aiming for something around $50, if that's possible. I don't want to blindly walk into a Best Buy and buy something overpriced for mediocre quality. Thanks! Any suggestions are welcomed, help point me in the right direction haha.
