hey r/atheism how do you feel about vegetarianism?

After i stopped believing in god i stopped eating meat for about a month, i hope to return to it in the future. my reasoning was that i am really no better then an animal, so what right do i have to eat one? I am curious to hear what other atheists feel about eating meat.

edit. yes, i understand there is a food chain and all that, but since we have other means to survive,( food other then meat or fish,) shouldn't we choose the method that does not involve the killing of other beings? again i currently eat meat so i'm just throwing these ideas out there, my reasoning could be completely off.
