What methods do you guys use to potentiate substances and for which substances?

Recently cracked open one of my old psychopharmacology textbooks and noticed they had a small section devoted to discussing the findings that a chemical within grapefruit juice inhibits an enzyme responsible for the breakdown of substances and how this can potentiate certain drugs. Just curious as to you're guys methods, if any, as to how you potentiate any substances and which ones.
