For The Hermiones of Us All: 6 tips for Curly Hair.

I've seen a lot of posts about taming curly hair lately and I wanted to offer my advice!

I have ethnic hair. Jew hair. Curly hair. Frizzy hair. It was the kind of unmanageable mess as a child that became so unruly my mother threatened to chop it all off if I didn't learn to tame it. Well, I didn't and she did. But now I know better. Here are some tips to taming super curly hair.

  1. Don't wash it every day. This is the number 1 mistake! Washing your hair every day removes the good oils that help tame the frizz.

  2. Buy a straightener. Even if you don't want to wear your hair straight, you should run it through your hair before brushing to help stop frizz. Straightening your hair every day will tame its texture over time.

  3. Only wash your hair once a week (max) May sound gross, but it will make your life so much easier. Use dry shampoo in-between if you feel gross.

  4. When washing your hair use a rich shampoo like pantene or dove-- the more moisturizing the better. Then use a deep conditioning mask (pantene makes a great one for only about $4, comes in a little tub) leave it in your hair for about ten minutes, rinse.

  5. Do not towel dry. Do not blow dry. Just BRAID your hair until it air dries. If you want a curly style, wait until your hair is FULLY DRY, then run your straightner over your braided hair. Just clamp it on down for a few seconds. If you want a straight look, unbraid and then straighten.

  6. For daily styling use a good frizz serum, rub it in your hands and then curl your hair with your fingers, pulling down tightly.

Would love to hear your tips as well!

EDIT: Seriously? Four downvotes? What exactly in this post are you so against? I'm just trying to share some tips. Don't be a dick, just to be a dick.
