10 things Dad has learned on his first family roadtrip with a 2 year old:

Writing this in our silent, pitch black hotel room with my screen at it's dimmest setting. Apologies in advance:)

  1. EVERYONE goes to bed at the same time. E-ver-y- One
  2. Make sure your kid fits in the travel crib before it takes up half the car.
  3. Having the Christmas gifts shipped directly to family would have been just as thoughtful as stuffing them in to the car to make it more "personal".
  4. The bathroom is now the living room for one parent at a time (1 hour and I still haven't gotten my turn.)
  5. All the work on your kid's diet and sleep schedule don't mean shit now
  6. My daughter is copying people which is great because my niece is five and a huge pain in the ass
  7. Take the time it would normally take to drive and add 30 - 40% when planning your next roadtrip.
  8. Your kid doesn't know you changed time zones,
  9. Whoever has been entertaining the kid for the last 4 hours in the car is not necessarily the most "rested up" for driving next
  10. I am Clark Griswald

...feel free to add any lessons you all have from driving with your little ones. It's my turn in the living room now.
