Occupy Bellingham:

The Occupy Encampment was “evicted” from Bellingham today. One of the participants was quoted in the paper that they were going to occupy a house or business that is in foreclosure as their “next step”. I have an alternate suggestion. Occupy a street corner and collect cold weather clothes for people who have been made homeless by the economic downturn. Collect and distribute coats, gloves, hats, scarves, food, bus passes. Contact local charities and see what your group can do as volunteers. Occupy city and county council meetings by going, following the rules of order and politeness, and participate in the local political process, making sure the voice that you feel is so silent is actually heard by our local leaders. You like the dichotomy of 1% and 99%? Try this: true revolution isn’t sexy 99% of the time. 99% of the time it is hard work, it is charity; it is doing what the government may not be doing and taking care of citizens. The birth of your movement is over. You have similarly minded people energized and gathered. Do something with it besides sitting in a squat talking about how much government sucks.
