New to this sub-reddit

I was excited that I found this subreddit, and I wanted to say hello and share my story.

I am 28, female, diagnosed right before I turned 18. I have seen many different sides of this illness depending on which area of my digestive tract is effected. In the last 10 years its been amazing how much information I have learned in regards to my health, the treatments that are coming out for it, the illness itself. Two years ago, near the day actually, I went into a really bad flare up. I developed a fistula, abcess, and my intestines just would not heal. I was on prednisone, imuran, entocort, and various things until they put me on humira. Nothing still worked, and my appendix was getting inflammed and was going to rupture because of inflammation near it.

The narrowing got so bad I had to worry about getting an obstruction every time I ate, and I could not lay on my left side because it hurt to much. If I were to take a bath I could of potentially gotten a fever from so much inflammation that would just not quit. So I finally decided that I needed to suck it up and get my first surgery. I had an ileo-cecal resection. They removed my appendix, ilieum, the whole right side of my large intestine, and some my small intestine. I was so terrified of surgery, but the worst part about it was waking up and being moved to another bed... omg that fucking hurt. Otherwise, with morphine and stuff... the post surgical pain was actually the same as when I had the flare lol, so I was already prepared for that. It took me awhile to recover, not just from the surgery, but gaining back the energy I lost while I was ill and was laying around. I was sick for such a long time that as alot of you probably have experienced- You can't excersize, you lose muscle, side-effects from meds and overall feeling of utter shit, ect. Just now I am starting to feel like my old self again, and able to excersize more and do more around the house and stuff. I feel like maybe I can finally put some of that shitty time behind me.

Hope all of you are doing well and Happy early New Year.
