I went through deep depression, where the thought of just killing myself came to my head many times a day. Not believing in any religious junk, I don't believe in a form of afterlife. Due to this, I feel like life is a gift that is Priceless. It is worth more to me than anything in this universe. Without life i have nothing. So if i killed myself i feel i would be taking away everything from myself and i couldn't push myself through to do so. But if i was religious and believed in some form of afterlife, then possibly i would have felt like i have something to move onto if i was dead and just killed myself. So basically, in a way i feel like being atheist has kept me alive. Just thought I would like to share that with you all.
