[UK Redditors] Your job is at risk - be warned
While it's important to build up M1 as a big day of action to strike fear into the withered hearts of the 1%, please take the following as a warning:
- If you take strike action that hasn't been called by a trade union, you are breaching your contract of employment.
- When in breach of your contract, you are liable to be dismissed.
- Only if you are a member of a union with a valid industrial dispute are you legally covered.
Because M1 is a political strike, rather than an industrial one, no UK trade union will be balloting their membership.
While I think it's important that we take the movement up a notch, I don't want our people, or anyone for that matter, to be used as martyrs for the cause.
tl;dr. If you go on strike, you can be fired. You have been warned.
