Why do ents dress like ents?

First off, a thousand pardons if this post comes off as uninformed or ignorant. That's the purpose of it -- to become informed.

Obviously this will only apply to ents who live in areas where trees are still completely illegal, as opposed to medicinal cards, etc.

I've always wondered, why do a large amount of ents dress and act like stereotypical potheads? I was walking to the store earlier today and I saw a guy who had: dreadlocks down to his waist with a knitted tie-die bandana; a tie-die shirt with a huge pot leaf on it; a pot leaf tattoo on the back of his hand; big baggy cargo pants; about 600 hemp bracelets; sandals.

I realize this is an extreme example, but I'm just wondering...why do this? Regardless of one's personal opinions on trees, they are still very illegal in many places. Why dress and act in a way that screams: "I HAVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF POT ON MY IMMEDIATE PERSON"?

I get it, I mean, personal choice, culture, freedom, "just because I dress like X, doesn't mean I'm X" and all that stuff...but Lord Chapelle's words regarding whores ring true here, as well: you are wearing an ent's uniform, and many people (police, most notably) will justifiably assume that you are an ent.

We don't see pill-poppers with "I <3 Percocet" shirts or cokeheads with "Cocaine rulez" tattooed on their wrists. I'm not comparing users of these substance to ents, other than the fact that all mentioned substances are illegal.

So, ents, please enlighten me, because back when I smoked a lot I went to great lengths to appear clean-cut and as un-pothead-like as possible.
