What can we do?

I have noticed that the game feels to me like it is dying. I posted this here because I am trying to open a discussion of what we can actively do to try and inspire more interest in the game.

At the same time what made the number of people playing drop significantly? Does anyone have any ideas?

This may fall on deaf ears or too small of a community. However for all the time that I have known about this game I have loved it, and would hate to see it die.
