Is the GTX 260 a large step up from the 9800 GT?

My friend just upgraded from his GTX 260, and is offering me that card for like 30ish bucks. Is that card much better than my current? Would I see preformance boosts in games? Fairly noobish question, sorry about this, but I didnt really have anywhere else to ask.
