Gary Johnson didn't pubish racist/homophobic/ batshit newsletters for 10+ years. Why not support him instead?

I know, I know: Ron Paul's newsletters weren't ACTUALLY racist. But Ron Paul has "disavowed" them anyway, so I guess even he's conceding the point.

Why don't libertarians just move on and rally around someone who doesn't have all this baggage?
