Would you recommend a career in the IT industry?

Basically I am getting sick of delivering pizzas for a living and would like to move on and actually do something with my life. I am asking anyone who currently works in the IT field:

What are some of the pros/cons of this particular job?

Where should I start if I am looking at getting in to it?

What should I expect if I am pursuing a career in this field?

I am looking more towards IT support but would be willing to look into other fields as well, I just need a bit of direction.

Sorry if this is not the correct sub-reddit. It seemed like the right one.
