WTF was this stupid movie with like a pygmy tribe or something.

A couple (or a group of people of which the main characters are one male and one female) are like, on an airplane, or take an airplane, to this island (or maybe remote jungle setting) and there are natives, and there are also like these dwarf pygmy troglodyte things about the size of a midget, humanoid but probably not human, and at the end someone kinda escapes on a plane but maybe there is another dwarf thing monster on the plane? Maybe there was a Fonda in it?? I remember it being on HBO or something back in the mid 80s and like all HBO programming it was in heavy rotation for a week or two then went away. My mom hated it, but like, she hated everything back then.
