Blue Screen and then unrecognizable hard drive :(

So today my screen randomly blue-screened and shut down. When I went to restart it, it gave me the error message Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller Error: "Check Cable Connection" I have no idea what caused it, and I'm almost certain it wasn't virus related. I was compiling code in the program RobotC and it was taking longer than normal. Then it just crashed.

--Attempted fixes--

-Changing boot order in BIOS

-Changing SATA mode from AHCI to IDE

-Disabling network boot.

-Attempting to use spinrite, but to no avail because it couldn't find the disk.

--Computer-- Gateway NV75S17U: Purchased on 11/25/11 from TigerDirect

It just seems that no matter what I do I can't get the computer to recognize the drive. I appreciate the help, and thanks in advance :)
