My bag got stolen off the carousel this morning

I was coming into LAX and my bag was not at the carousel when I got there. I inquired at the United booth and they siad they would have LAPD look into it getting stolen. I got a call from LAPD (Airport) and they said that they reviewed the surveilence footage and they saw someone that they had caught stealing bags before grabbing a bag that looked like mine and walking out. I dont know what to do. It was mostly dirty clothes (on my way to visit parents) but I had a couple of pairs of very expensive jeans and some other valuables. Has this ever happened to anyone?
