Not very good at math, still pretty good at science; do I stand a chance at going to MIT?
So, I'm a sophomore, in Algebra II. Most of my math grades have been pretty low, but passing. I plan on taking Calculus and Statistics by my senior year, and I'm in the IB Diploma Programme. However, I generally have good grades in science classes.
I think I may major in Brain & Cognitive Science or Biology, with probable double major in Philosophy. I know MIT won't let you declare a major until sophomore year of college, but this is what I'm considering. These don't seem to be very math-heavy, but I know MIT is a rather selective school.
Here's where I stand:
88 in Algebra I
72 in Geometry
78 in Algebra II
81 in Biology
92 in Chemistry
GPA: 3.576 (weighted, cumulative)
Rank: 193 out of 616 (31st percentile)
So, would I be able to get in?
