The Cliff Notes: Lux.
Hey all!
My name's Charlie, and I've been playing for around a year. I finished season one at 1650, and have now created a new account and am smurfing my way up to 30 for season two. Seeing this sub, I decided to share some of my experience with the champions I play in a form that is both concise and easy to use.
First off, some all-round recommendations. If you have been playing for a while (about a month or two), I would say that its time to start smartcasting. For those who don't know, smartcasting is where you don't have to click after you cast the spell. Skillshots fire towards your mouse, AoE spells will centre themselves over where the mouse was at the time of casting, and single-target spells will target the person your mouse was over at the time. Certain spells are also naturally smartcasted, such as Irelia's ultimate, Vayne's Q, Riven's E and Urgot's Q.
Now, Lux. Lux is an AP caster with support potential, specialising in staying away from the fight, whilst dishing out constant CC and damage.
Q: Light Binding. A skillshot that damages and snares the first two targets hit. Second target receives half damage and snare time.
W: Prismatic Barrier. A skillshot that shields allies it hits, both on the way out and on the way back. You also receive the shield, both on activation and return.
E: Lucent Singularity. AoE that provides vision and slows. Can be detonated for damage.
R: Finales Funkeln. Long-ranged skillshot that instantly damages all targets hit.
Passive: Illumination. Targets hit by any of your damaging spells gain a debuff. This debuff can be triggered for extra damage. Finales Funkeln also triggers the debuff.
Max Q first, followed by E and then W. However, maxing E first can also be viable if your opponent is hiding behind minions. Max R whenever possible.
Your main damage combo pre-6 should be Q>E>autoattack>detonate E>autoattack. Finales Funkeln can be substituted in here pretty much anywhere. Also, if you're good with timings, you can detonate E whilst your autoattack is in the air for more burst.
Items: open Doran's Ring/boots plus 3 pots. If you're doing well, rush Morello's Evil Tome and a Deathcap. If not, pick up a Rod of Ages before this. Either grab Sorcerer's Shoes if they're building magic resist, or Ionian Boots of Lucidity if not. With CDR boots and Evil Tome, Finales Funkeln's cooldown is 24 seconds, and dealing ~600 damage before reductions. Late game you can pick up a Void Staff if they're stacking more MR, Zhonya's if they're heavy on AD, or Abyssal Sceptre otherwise.
In teamfights, your role should be to soften them up. Don't be afraid of opening up with Finales as the cooldown is short. You can halt their initiate with your Q. When the teamfight begins, try to lock down their carry with Q>E. Try to get your W to hit as many of your team as you can. Remember, your passive at level 18 deals 180 damage before reductions, so don't shy away from throwing in some autoattacks.
Think that's it. If I get time, I'll try make this a bit of a thing. Hope it helped!
