Question with how to properly use an API and store the results in a variable

I was hoping someone here could help. What I want to do is use an API to return a list and store it into an array so I can do what I wish with it. Here is the current API I wish to use

http://www.ifixit.com/api/0.1/doc

I would like to return a list of all the guides, so it says to use the /guides extension. I have been looking at tutorials online and they seem to recommend JSON and PHP, etc. I really don't have a preference, just whatever gets the job done.

Please let me know if I am being too vague, thanks!

P.S. I am currently using MooTools for my Javascript framework if that helps
