My friend had a horrible accident and is at home, all loopy on pain meds, bummed about his situation, and bored out of his mind. What should I do to cheer him up?
My friend had a horrible accident and broke his face. He's okay and it could have been a lot worse (could have had brain damage, spinal damage, or lost his vision, thank god he didn't). He's going to make a full recovery, but he's out of commission for a few months. He's basically confined to his apartment and is all loopy from the pain meds he has to take every few hours. Worse still, he broke his hard palate and can't eat solid food for a while. Needless to say he's kinda down in the dumps about everything.
Since I've just returned home from visiting my family, I haven't seen him post-facial reconstruction surgery (yowza! eight titanium plates in his face now .. ) I saw him right after the accident and it wasn't a pretty sight. He says the surgery left him hurting even more than the accident. So that blows. I'm a teacher and I don't have to go to work until next week, so I figured I'd go hang out with him pretty much every day until then.
If I were him I'd be tired of eating stew and watching TV. So I'm trying to think of something fun to do that a) doesn't involve leaving the apartment and b) doesn't require that much critical thinking, since I think he's kinda strung out on the oxycodon. But I'm coming up short here.
Your challenge, Reddit, should you choose to accept it, is to help me figure out how to brighten my friends day. How can I cheer him up, entertain him, feed him something other than smoothies and broth, and basically give him something else to think about beside the painful monotony of spending weeks at home, doing nothing?
