Any *good* experiences with the pill?

I had my first visit to the lady doctor today and got a prescription for Loestrin24, which I'll start after my next period. Browsing r/birthcontrol has made me a little nervous though--I keep reading about crazy mood swings, crying, etc. Has anyone had a good experience with the pill? I could use a little reassurance.
