What are the novels that are easiest to get lost in?

I will soon be enduring a 5 hour flight and a 7 hour flight. I have drugs as a back up, but I thought it'd be a good experiment to try to fly without them. Thus, I'm looking for distraction from my paranoid-about-flying brain.

What are those novels that suck you in so hard that you completely lost track of the world around you? The novels that gripped your mind so completely that hours went by without you noticing?

As background, I enjoy sci-fi, comedy, romance, historical fiction, realistic fiction, but I'm not into murder (some murder mysteries are okay if they're not too graphic) or horror.
