Help! I need opinions!
I'm making this rabbit for one of my Secret Santa rematches. Pay special attention to the head area. Construction is pieces (left outer body, right outer body, stomach, head gusset, ears, front arms) and seamed together.
I finished the two outer pieces and the stomach and had the brilliant idea^1 to pin it together to see how things are fitting together. I started at the bunny's butt and worked my way forward to each of the legs, and up the belly. Then, I got to the chin.
I should have run out of white belly as I hit the chin. Instead, I have an extra 3 inches worth white belly. Where I should have been 6 stitches wide, I have 12. Meaning, I have between an extra 15 and 20 rows on his belly.
The pinned together pictures are on my Ravelry page. Note that it is pinned inside out as I have intentions of seaming it from the inside, then flipping it out as you would a sewn toy. Yes, I'm aware it looks like a rabbit fillet and that my desk is a mess.
Here's what I'm thinking my options are:
- Completely rip out the belly and redo it, removing 15 rows throughout. It took me about 5 hours (with interruptions) to knit.
- Rip back the belly to the chin area, bind off, and fake the proper width as I seam as the excess belly will be in the inside.
- Continue the belly up to the crown of the head and completely disregard the head gusset piece (this is how it is pinned in the photos). This would require some strategic seaming to get the neck shape.
Opinions? Other suggestions?
.^1 Brilliant because I decided to start this at 11pm, and we all know only good can come from starting the next phase in a project at 11pm.
EDIT: I ended up going with option 3, after doing option 1 with new yarn and not being happy with it. The Ravelry project page has been updated with finished pictures :)
