Dating Noob that doesn't know how to meet girls. Help?

I realized about 30 minutes ago that it is now Dec. 29th. At first I was excited, realizing that I am now 18 (Male). Then I realized that I have made it to 18 without ever having a girlfriend. Although I can be rather outgoing with friends, I'm usually a bit awkward around others. Other than that, I haven't seen any other major flaws with myself (no, I'm not incredibly hot, but I wouldn't consider myself unattractive). Any advice would be appreciated and questions are welcome. I might even post a pic if requested. Thanks reddit for any attempts.
