Need advice transferring money to US using bitcoin

I need to send 1000usd to a friend in US, I know if I do a telegraphic transfer I will pay more than 50$. Is there a way, I can do it via bitcoin, provided my friend does not have to open new accounts in dwolla etc. The best option is that the money arrives at his bank account in People's United Bank
