Cisco site-to-site VPN trouble

I've configured a site-to-site VPN connection on two cisco ASA:s through ASDM, as far as I can tell they're identical. When I check under the "monitoring"-tab there's no active tunnel between them. Is there something I have to do to initiate the connection after setting up the connection profile on the two firewalls? Does it immediately start trying to make the connection as soon as you create a profile, or what?

I'm the only one in the IT department not on vacation (and also the n00biest) this holiday season, I'd be extremely grateful for some reddit sysadmin love.

UPDATE: Thanks for all the replies, I just wanted to do an update incase anyone looks this up in a similar situation, although when it comes to firewalls it seems unlikely any two problems have the same solution.

Being the new guy, I had no idea we actually had TWO firewalls in the main site (I'm in the secondary site and most familiar with the setup there). Once I made a route to handle the traffic to the Cisco I got it up and running.

TL;DR: Don't be an ass - document your site properly for your colleagues when you're on vacation! :D
