Do you stay connected to reddit/the internet while traveling abroad? If so how?

Checking reddit daily is a hard habit to break even when you're abroad. Do you keep a laptop with you? Smartphone/iPod? internet cafes? or do you disconnect yourself completely until you get back home.

I'm usually more for disconnecting, but I can't resist getting on the internet on some trips to see whats going on and I like to send out quick updates and pictures on my phone a couple times while I'm gone to let people know I'm still alive and doing all right.
