[Daily Hero tl;dr #11] Vengeful Spirit

I haven't done a very hard support hero yet, so I'm going to do VS. If I can request one hero for new players to start playing as, it'd be this one. The concept is nice, simple, and elegant. Playing VS forces you to not just remember your own hero, but how the game works as a whole.

TL;DR

  • Skills - Missile (1,3,5,7) Wave (2,4,8,9) Aura (10,12,13,14) Swap (6,11,16)
  • Skills (pro build) - Missile (1,12,13,14) Wave (2,3,5,7) Aura (4,8,9,10) Swap (6,11,16)
  • Items (lane) - courier, branches, regen
  • Items (early) - boots (into Treads), Urn, Medallion, wards
  • Items (later) - Scepter, more wards, Force Staff, more wards
  • Tips - establish map control, use wave for couting, initiate fights with Swap, support everyone

VS is one of the most supporty support heroes of the game, making her extremely useful. So, because you are a very strong support hero, it is OK (and probably good) if you get zero creep kills. You don't need gold, you don't need items. Gold you get from assists and over time should be enough for you to get boots and wards.

During the lane phase, your job is to babysit whatever hero you are with. This means you be aggressive and harass the enemy hero back. If that fails, then your job is to make sure your ally doesn't die. Don't waste stuns and stay close enough to break their combos. If they initiate on your ally, make sure they do not succeed.

Use your wave for scouting, early-mid game you should be non stop ganking. Find yourself a nice ganker buddy and roam the map, place wards, and ruin your enemy's game. This should give you enough gold for Urn or Medallion and even more wards. And Smoke of Deceit is a great item, too.

During team fights, your job is to catch an enemy out of position and force them even more out of position. Swap is an excellent initiator, so use it that way. Wave for scouting, minor damage, and the armor reduction, and swap someone that could use swapping. It is okay if you die, you're almost supposed to. But if you survive, then yay! Good for you.

About the pro skill build: back a few versions ago (donno if it's useful anymore now) some Chinese teams would only build one stun. Her other spells are just exceptional and you conserve mana, so you end up getting more stuns off. Missile scales a bit differently now, so I'm not sure if it's still a legit build, but I wanted to point that out.
