Good hide the numbers, it's not like the state of Florida was averaging 34 deaths a day before they stopped counting last week.

They forced them to stop being accurate a year ago in Florida. Now states that never had a policy besides counting are wanting to avoid that. It's like they want to portend there was never a problem and they can walk away from the consequences of it.

It’s all part of the Republican effort to whitewash their covid response. You’re seeing it happen with the efforts to paint Fauci as some villain, meanwhile Trump lied about the virus and politicised it from day 1.

So did fauci - and he is a villain

And here’s one of the cult right now, please tell me how exactly Fauci is a villain?

Good hide the numbers

Only someone completely ignorant about Florida would think you could hide the numbers. One of the reasons the "Florida Man" meme exists is because government records, including arrest records, are subject to what is probably the most transparent FOIA style law in the country. If the numbers were being "altered" or "hidden," there would be a record of that, and any competent journalist would know what records to request in order to prove that they were being "altered" or "hidden." I should know, because I dated a journalist when I lived in FL, and the law allowed her to piece together actual instances of public officials misrepresenting data to the public. She requested the source documents from which the the misrepresented information was allegedly derived.

While the quality of this sub has been declining steadily since we've been colonized by the refugees from such brain-trusts as "Chapotraphouse," it's still not so far gone that people don't recognize what you're doing. Enough people here have already posted about how this is a non-story. That you obviously have no idea what you're talking about is just a cherry and sprinkles on top of a sundae.

Hey... I posted a literal record of them hiding the numbers. Aren't I nice.

No, you posted an article saying Florida was changing from daily reporting to weekly reporting. The numbers are still available to the public. You're mischaracterizing "we're going to publish weekly instead of daily" as something that can obscure the metrics. I'd be embarrassed to suggest something so stupid were I you. The last paragraph of your article puts into context just how meaningless your concerns are:

Many states have moved away from daily reporting over the course of the pandemic, with nearly 20 reporting data five days a week, according to a list maintained by Johns Hopkins. Florida is the only state currently reporting both case and death data once per week, however, and only Kansas and Alabama are reporting three days a week, according to Johns Hopkins.

As the cast of American Horror Story might say, "Do better, sweaty."

We are hitting early March levels of infections. With the continuing increase in vaccinations there really isn't any reason to report this information everyday; the people who cared enough to check daily have already gotten their shot and don't give a fuck anymore, and those that didn't give a fuck in the first place won't be affected. Switching to weekly like how it was at the beginning pandemic makes sense and this is a non-story.

Next Phase: More death, but you don't know about it

The story that DeSantis has been peddling has always been that this is a non-story.

Seems appropriate given the lack of new cases. For those who didn’t bother reading they are shifting to updating it weekly instead of daily. Not sure what it mattered before. What can we do with daily information, but not weekly?

It’s amusing how people go nuts about this based on their preconceived notions. They still hold onto the Rebekah Jones story long after it has been debunked and she is shown as a lunatic. The only stories that register are the ones that confirm their beliefs.

People in Florida are dying 34 people per day , but yeah nothing burger . Keeping in power is more important

2†
BenAustinRock•

That’s less than one per 500,000 people. It’s not like they aren’t reporting the data, they just aren’t doing it every day. What difference does it make if the daily total turns into a weekly one?

3
M3fitSocial Libertarian •

What data will they report that’s worth anything if they aren’t counting it anymore .

Fuck it , Floridans want to die under a political coverup , shit they voted for it , I am no sympathy

BenAustinRock•

It is still being counted, what political cover up?

34 people per day

That's nothing put into context of Florida's population. Who gives a shit. Numbers only gain meaning from context. 34/100 is bad while 34/1000000 would be meaningless, for example

Good , hope you live there .

Testing capacity was already cut back. Had to suppress those bad numbers somehow.

1
BenAustinRock•

Please cite any evidence at all of suppressed numbers. Repeating bullshit again and again doesn’t make it more true.

And yet Florida’s mortality rate is very favorable and that is before even considering the older than average population. So if they were testing less for whatever reason to hide the number of positives there should be a higher than average death rate per case. There isn’t any of that. So what you have is speculation that goes against actual hard numbers. The hard numbers win, sorry.

As they have higher numbers than anyplace should at this point, they start actively hiding the unhappy info. I'm Shocked!!
