There is a serious lack of education among the general public. They literally think we are a bunch of whining classists who were born into rich families.

I’ve found out throughout the years that most people don’t learn from evidence—they learn from experience. In this case, they will not learn the truth about midlevels until they experience being misdiagnosed or mistreated at the hands of a NP/PA. Unfortunately that’s what it will take.

Lol at the poster who said the ED physician sent her home for potential ovarian torsion because he didn’t want to wake anesthesia.

Sure the lack of education is something we have known from the beginning. when people ask nurses when they are going to finish up being doctors. That just means our responsibility to communicate empathically and sensitively is all the more important. We lost the first round when we let hospitals strip us of the ability to provide compassionate care and spend time with patients. We need to take that back or we will never convince patients that they should give an F about physician led care.

I would argue the rich classists physicians care more than patients than NPs/PAs. These richer physicians could have been anything but they went through 4 years of med school and then 3-7 year of residency to make crap pay. If they are rich, they could have been anything they want.

These NPs/PAs are classist elitists pricks. They use their 2 year degree and demand 150K+ salaries. They use their 2 year degree and demand to be called "Dr.". They use their 2 year degree and demand to have FPA.

Most normal people won’t see the problem until they are misdiagnosed/mismanaged by one. They somehow don’t seem to care either that even if they see a midlevel they almost always pay the full rate as if they saw a physician. It’s just sad tbh

They don’t even have the smallest notion about what’s happening in healthcare right now. These people would be appalled if they only knew how little training their beloved NP/PA has compared to a physician. Let them remain ignorant and think that we are just being “drama queens”. They will be singing a different tune when, in 15-20 years, this whole scope creep nonsense will have been dubbed the midlevel epidemic and have had disastrous consequences for our patients. They will then look back and realize that we were right all along.

Lol compare those comments to the comments under the Newstation video about the two girls that died due to NP negligence. People don’t care until they’ve been affected by this issue.

Easy to bash doctors for being elitist and framing med students as rich spoiled kids whose parents put them through med school

Honestly? I don’t really care what they think, because they’re the ones who will be up in arms when something goes wrong and will be frothing at the mouth when they realize they have no one to hold accountable. (It’s like the cluster B patient that threatens to AMA on me thinking it’ll manipulate me to do what they demand...without realizing I’ll just give them the AMA spiel about risks and benefits and let them leave lol)

Also you have to realize the population of Reddit skews young, healthy adults who are in a stage of life where they are all in on the “fuck expertise, fuck hierarchy, we all want equal outcomes etc etc” stage of life.

Chickens haven’t come home to roost for them yet in terms of healthcare

if we dismiss everyone's intelligence but our own we are not going to win this war. why bother fighting it if you plan on losing it from the outset.

Instead I suggest seeing their points (as uneducated as they are) as an opportunity to reflect and identify the critical shortcoming of our profession and what steps we need to take to fix it.

That is a sub filled with popcorn eating cynics. Maybe one day they'll grow up and have beliefs of their own.

The only thing physicians and physician trainees need to know is the world is against them. Nobody except occasionally other physicians are out there to help the profession.

Why not try writing a subreddit drama about how PA like to talk down the efforts physician education or something similar.

Love to see what would happen.

This is just the beginning.

If this keeps going, the true winners will be the rich and big city residents (which are usually expensive to live in). Rich can afford to see a physician by paying or going to a city filled with physicians.

Or if you live in a big city, you can easily see a physician quicker.

If you are not rich or live in an area with less people, you'll be screwed over with these mid-levels who they think are gods.

You can’t use “residents” to describe those who live in a city, that’s reserved for those in medical training!
