Beginner question: Activity with breaks - how to record
After my first year of riding I'm now trying to get more structure into my training with Trainingpeaks.
I'm new to all of this and never spent attention to TSS.
I usually double-record my rides in case I need a backup (with Edge/Zwift and my old Fenix; using the same sensors).
If the ride is split (ie multiple rides on Zwift or if I have to wait for my friends to show up outside), I do not touch my Fenix and it records one long activity - while I start/stop my Edge each time.
When cleaning up afterwards I usually delete the long one.
In Trainingpeaks I'm not sure which one to delete, because the TSS isn't the same.
ie:
the all-in-one-recording shows 178 TSS
the sum out of way there + group ride + way home only makes 151 TSS
Sometimes the numbers are a bit closer, but the long activity always shows a higher TSS.
Any idea which one to keep?

Hi, I would argue that it largely doesn't matter, but what matters more is being consistent i.e. use the same method of recording.
Personally I have a watch without autopause, so I only manually pause the watch when stopping for café / shop stop, repairing puncture etc. And follow this same plan for every ride.
(Trying to resurrect this sub, so if anyone has better knowledge of TSS feel free to jump in!)
Oops, I completely forgot about autopause on my "backup track" - I'm pretty sure it's disabled. I guess that will equal the TSS more.
I'll try that first, before I dig in deeper.
Nonetheless I don't understand why my "effort per hour" (my very short & simple and probably not very correct explanation for TSS) should be higher with the breaks included. But it's all a bit overwhelming what Trainingpeaks offers.
Thanks 😊
