[oprMedia] jeromiewhalen Mod AMA

Hello everyone,

My name is jeromiewhalen and I would like to represent the OPR movement in the capacity of Media Moderator.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to everyone who spent the day in the chat room and on Reddit in those first few days getting the movement off the ground. Thank you very much!

I, along with joshawesome, EagleFalconn and dabeev, rallied in the early stages of the OPR movement to get the website up and running. Josh bought hosting and pullryan.com, and I followed shortly thereafter with solidifying pullryan.org. The next 12-15 hours were spent creating the layout and content for the website. I drafted the mission statement, Josh and dabeev gathered the vital information needed for the tabs, and EagleFalconn set to work on the first press release. In less than 24 hours we presented what we had for discussion and soon had a fully-functioning website: amazing! I am also the currently co-admin of the Facebook page and one of the admins of the twitter handle.

Here is a little about me: I am a 24 year-old recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I earned my BA in History with a concentration in Contemporary American History.

I currently work full time as the Media Resource Coordinator at a local television station in Massachusetts. I am fluent in non-linear video editing, video production, web design, and a host of other multimedia tools. I believe this would be a strong asset if we decide to produce advertisements in the near future.

My friend and I co-founded the People Against the Corporate Manipulation of Elections and News (the PACmen) earlier this year. The main focus of our PAC is the overturning of "FEC vs. Citizen's United", the USSC case which has now become infamous for it's "corporations are people" ruling in regards to campaign financing. We believe that the limitless use of corporate funds has hindered the ability for fair elections to take place in the United States, and we are committed to ensuring that our fundamental human liberties are not overrun by faceless corporate enterprises.

I am excited and eager to take any questions you have about myself, my political ideology or whatever else comes to mind. Keep up the good fight! : )

Edit 1/3/2012 12:20 AM : I am headed to bed, long day [(I made the main frontpage for the first time today too, yeah!)] (http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/o07an/stumbled_upon_a_disturbing_user_account_last/) so I will answer any other questions you have as soon as I get into work in the morning. Thanks again!
