Suns Draft Board
No one cares, because we're witnessing the greatest Suns playoff run in 20+ years. But on a day with no basketball, I thought it would be fun to dive into the draft a bit.
This year the Suns only have their own first rounder, the 29th pick of the draft. No second rounders. James Jones also has a reputation of picking proven players in positions of need. Because of that, I think we should/will draft Filip Petrušev.
This man is a 21 year old 6'11 PF/C, who played 2 years at Gonzaga and 1 year at Mega Bemax in the ABA.
Here are is numbers:
| Year | Team | GS | MPG | FG% | 3 % | FT% | RPG | APG | SPG | BPG | PPG |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018–19 | Gonzaga | 32 | 11.4 | .554 | .300 | .853 | 2.7 | .3 | .2 | .5 | 6.5 |
| 2019–20 | Gonzaga | 33 | 25.9 | .562 | .182 | .655 | 7.9 | 1.5 | .6 | .8 | 17.5 |
| 2020–21 | Mega Basket | 21 | 32.0 | .579 | .419 | .739 | 7.6 | 1.6 | .5 | 1.1 | 23.6 |
While there's not much info on him, what you need to know is that this dude gets better every year and in the 8th best pro league in the world averaged 23 points, 7 rebounds and 41% from 3. He got the MVP award in that league and is projected anywhere from 23rd to 39th in this years draft. I personally don't think he's amazing at anything really, but he's also not a liability on defense and I think he'd be a perfect backup C/PF we can run if Jalen Smith ain't improving.
Here's some highlights from FIBA.
Who do you guys got? What players are you interested in? With Mikal/Ayton extensions coming up and decisions to be made on Payne/CP3, this roster may experience some changes regardless.
