Teacher career change to OTA?
Hello all, I've posted before but I wanted to ask for some more advice if you're willing to share your opinion. I have a bachelor's in elementary education. Taught for almost 4 years and was extremely depressed. I loved connecting with the kids and my staff but, honestly? I didn't care too much about the curriculum as much as I cared about students succeeding and getting on the path to being their very best. I then burned out gloriously after not letting myself work less than 12 hours a day ( I look back and just ask...why did I do that?). I know I can't go back to teaching and be happy, but certain aspects of the job I want to carry over into my next job.
I think medical would satisfy my enjoyment of helping people. I got my phlebotomy license (just waiting for clinicals to start, I passed all my tests/classes.
I wanted to ask if there are any people here who switched to medical as a career change? I think I'll work as a phlebotomist for a while while I get an associate's in possibly occupational therapy assistant or an associate's in nursing.
Is anyone able to give me insight on these two careers? I've asked questions in both forums but wanted to ask here too.
Thank you for reading!
