Have either Russillo or KOC had sex in 2021?
[deleted]
Are we really gonna do the thing where we make fun of a guy for where he cries about the one that got away in 02?
Are you gonna cum?
FOUR SHORE
Dude was hitting charissa Thompson before she got hitched. Pull the tape.
In what universe?
Have you? I doubt it, and for most people on this sub. Not that it's a bad thing. I hope virgin/not being sexually aggressive shaming goes away this decade.
Wonder what his actual notes are and how he uses them. He doesn't really talk about sets or plays and to be fair I feel like his audience doesn't really listen to him for X's and O's breakdowns. As for him 'complaining' about having to watch random lottery teams play each other in March, I don't really see the benefit towards his podcast performance. Does he really talk about the Pistons any deeper than 'wow Grant is getting a ton of shots'. You can get that from a quick box score scroll!
i highly doubt he watches that much game or takes that much notes. He is the classic im better than you type guy. Always trying to get on his high horse. It's annoying as shit. Like back in high school, there is always that one kid who brags to teachers about reading books while others were dicking around.
Yeah that could easily be the case. The other scenario is deep down he feels his 'job' (someone who just riffs about the NBA, NFL, CFB) is a bit of a joke compared to the salary he makes so he tries to legitimize it to himself by 'grinding tape' on league pass and taking notes (like a professional on a legal pad) even though he really doesn't have to.
that's possible. He also gives off this vibe that the world has done him wrong. He is so bitter that he wasn't bigger at ESPN. In his head he watches so much more tape than SVP or SAS or skip or whoever that was much bigger at ESPN, he is so bitter about it. His best move is befriend BS, otherwise he is just some dude at ESPN who is 200% replaceable.

Where's this coming from sounds personal
It is his personal opinion, how useful are yours and my comment here
the weird relation to a guy he knows in his personal life with all the extra salt ("It's annoying as shit") just sounds funny, and it's because Ryen says he watches basketball lol
Ryen: I watch a lot of basketball
Him: NO YOU DONT YOURE JUST LIKE JEFF
Tbf, the Grant example is a perfect example where him actually watching could be useful. If you just look at the box score, you don't know if Grant is shooting that much because he is being a gunner, or because the offensive scheme is set up for him to be the primary option.
Depending on which it is he could be seen as a useful third option on a winning team or a shudder good stats bad team guy
They are notes about bad takes on Twitter from “the media.”
I’ve always felt that he doesn’t provide much value in terms of his NBA analysis, but most people here seem to think that he really knows his stuff. The main thing that sticks out to me is that he’ll get very specific in terms of a single play, and give you the time stamp for it, but at the same time he’s very vague in terms of drawing any sort of big picture conclusions. He’ll do a 15 minute segment just to sum it up by saying “I don’t know, some of this stuff can be very game to game.” It’s like he has a way of sounding very passionate while also making you feel like he just did that segment to pass time.
I liked his breakdown of how the Bucks defended all of Trae's shots in game 1 on his last pod
Russillo has plenty of stuff that annoys me, but at least he still does the work lol
He’s a does the work and tells you about it kind of Guy.
Seriously. He watches almost every game to be at the top of his game. Maybe I am a homer because I really like Russillo and his analysis but my god does this sub just take shots at Bill, Ryen, and everything else The Bill Simmons pod and The Ringer does. I am genuinely curious, if people have this hate relationship w/ them, why are they even listening?
Ry, is that you? Lol
I wish, sadly the traps just aren't there yet.
If you have this hate relationship with this sub, why are you even in it?
The answer to both questions is the same.
Consistently hate listening to something is one of the saddest hobbies out there
Eh, I lose a lot of patience with a dude that has 'pronunciation dyslexia' sometimes. That's just an excuse not to work on pronunciation you're uncomfortable with.
And it's like all this sub is. Just ragging on every single thing they say. Like go elsewhere if you want another opinion. Stop being a poncy little school child and listening to the pod to just destroy them on Reddit for upvotes.
The both of you, consistently hate reading this sub SMH. Like a mediocre person once said "like go somewhere else if you want another opinion"
keep in mind normal listeners don't come in here, you come here to complain. Sub would be pretty boring if it was all people chiming in "enjoyed the episode, no notes"
I come here because Ive been listening to the pods forever and get the inside jokes and everyone here's got something in common
A lot of bored people with nothing better to do. Criticism is fine, but the way this sub won’t let things go is fucking weird
NBA notes or screenwriting notes?
It’s amazing an NBA team hasn’t hired Ryen as a coach or consultant with all his intricate X’ and O’s basketball knowledge he displays on his pod every week.
This sub simultaneously takes the piss out of Bill for his lack of preparation (fair) and Ryen for his over the top amount of preparation (unfair).
Sure he talks about it, but at least with Ryen you’re getting a qualified opinion that he formed himself. I put value in that.
How do you know that Ryen does prep? He tells you about it.
no we take the piss out of ryen because hes always overcompensating acting like writing a few sentences in his notes app during a basketball game is so hard and noble just for him to say "the timberwolves thing" "the KAT thing" etc
Are you sure they aren't the notes KD didn't want to keep from Bill?
been listening to pods while working roughly 8 hours a day throughout the past year (mindless warehouse labor). Russillo is consistently my fave during NFL and NBA. Rarely was I listening to Bill Simmons pod, and a bit bummed he’s losing an episode or two a week to tag team w Bill. Fortunately finding this sub has made it worthwhile. The KOC Killian Hayes #1 in his draft guide last year…hmmm, well give it a few years I guess.
I always picture Ryen's notes being a composition notebook filled with doodles and pencil drawings of Bill, Charles Barkley and Rachel Nichols.
I like to think it’s the scene from Big Lebowski when the dude checks Jackie Treehorn’s notepad.
lol exactly
Funny to see the sub clowning on Ryen now. Well deserved.
Ryen has surprised me several times for being knowledgable on fringe players in fringe teams. He's not as bad/good? as KOC on the level of detail, but he certainly does his homework
It’s his receipts for tax day. Gotta keep those tax bills low even if you have to vote for fascists.
You'd think someone who brags about how many notes he takes would have better insights than "he can do some stuff on the offensive end and the defensive thing will come. It just will."
Is he hoping to be a gm someday?
I don’t know shit about basketball and only listen to analysis when it’s on Bill or Ryen’s pods. I’ve never heard anybody else bring up how much tape they watch or how many notes they take. For you guys who know basketball, is he really any more knowledgeable than a Zach Lowe or KOC, or even local sports radio? Or maybe a better question is, is he good at articulating all that knowledge he possesses?
Ryen on sports>Life Advice. That shouldn't be unpopular given this is a sub for fans of a sports media personality, but I know it will be. I enjoy Life Advice but it's not the GOAT segment like lots of people think.
I enjoy it mostly for Kyle’s observations and comments. However, the only person who thinks there is actual advice being asked for and given is Russillo himself. They should just rename it Meathead Corner.
It’s honestly a mid level radio segment that quickly became fake stories
Ryen acts like watching Nuggs TWolves on a Tuesday is like preparing for the LSATs.
And all he gets from it is “some of these Jokic passes make you go man is this the best passing center of the last 25 years???”
