Thank you for buying games on Epic.

Yup, the people buying games on Epic are supporting all the other people

oldskoolmegaman•

I don't think that's how Epic makes free games work from a financial perspective...

4
yusuf888•

can you elaborate? I thought Epic Games pays devs to make their games free (pays them by epic games revenue and Fortnite and Rocket League microtransactions)

Could have just bought most of those on steam

Rand1411•

Cheaper on EGS, so...

7
IDrinkH2O_03•

I bought any 200$ worth of games for under 50 yesterday. Steam sales are the best.

1†
IDrinkH2O_03•

Even with the summer sale?

0†
Coasty_1•

I bought a lot of Ubisoft games during the mega sale I could get for 5$

shadowdsPC Gamer :pcgamer:•

Didn't buy anything since EGS in 2018 Dec as of yet. If maybe they offer me Kingdom hearts at a better deal, then I would have bought something from Epic, otherwise they had nothing I wanted really, I bought all my games from 3rd party key retailers bundle sites, GoG, and Steam. And no I got nothing against EGS, just that they really had nothing I wanted besides Kingdom hearts.

20
Anonim97•

During Mega Sale there was Kingdom Hearts sale and with a coupon You could have got them at half the price. Still a lot, but much cheaper.

1
shadowdsPC Gamer :pcgamer:•

I know, but I wasn't going to pay $40 CAD + coupon usage per game pack, I'm waiting for to get get each pack at least $10 - $15 then buy them, but they were not near that price at all.

I'm an adult with expendable income.

I have bought over twenty, as well as some DLC for free games. I wish I had the time to play through what I have bought, let alone what I've gotten free. Most was purchased during sales with coupons though--except a few exclusives I splurged on (Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, Metro Exodus, The Outer Worlds). I have over 1200 games in my GOG 2.0 library combined between Steam, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Epic, Amazon, Xbox Gamepass etc.

What I don't have is time to play them all.

  • art of rally
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Assassin's Creed Origins
  • Crysis Remastered
  • Dead Cells
  • Far Cry 4
  • Far Cry 5

  • Red Dead Redemption II
  • RiME
  • Civilization VI DLC
  • Subnautica

I think, by thanking him, he's implying that he is supporting epic games, which in turn helps in aiding the free games for us poor plebs,

but I do agree that Epic Games store needs alot more features such as rating system, community discussions etc. to compete with Steam.

oh and does Steam have any competitors other than Epic and GoG?

Through various sources and the court documents that have been released it's actually the opposite.

The free games that epic would give away were chosen because they are best sellers on steam. They are literally trying to buy users away from steam. This has cost them a good but of money so they are not able to do it forever.

I'm holding off on purchasing games in general because i'm currently focused on upgrading my PC and replacing my Switch (it's not in the best shape).

Also i'm not planning on buying on EGS until the launcher matures more, then i'll get games from there.

11
Exinaus•

Not that many games, i think.

  • Snowrunner
  • Oxygen Not Included
  • Industries of Titan
  • Tropico 6

And i also bough DLC/Season Pass for some games:

  • Civilization 6
  • Assassins Creed Syndicate
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance
  • Railway Empire
  • Surviving Mars
  • Watch Dogs 2

But i'm a strategy/simulation fan, and i already have my favorite games in Steam: Rimworld, Factorio, Stardew VAlley, Cities: Skylines, Stellaris, Prison Architect, etc. so i'm not a great client in terms of buying new games since most of games i already own have, probably, the best replayability games could have. I don't need more games, those that i have already more than enough.

I'd purchase more if they find a way to sell games in countries that don't have international credit cards

Thank you to all the people who bought games on the Epic store. It helps for people like me who can't buy games play a decent amount of games for free on Epic. I replied to a couple of people thanking them. Thank you

6

Have you considered the more people that buy games the less they need to buy market share with free games?

I've bought something for the first time recently, definitely not the last.

I've had Control on my wishlist for a while now.. they gave it for free. Had to buy DLC's, it just right.

Will certainly buy some games more later on, if they gave me a game I wishlist for free, they deserve some financial support from me.

5
DutchMapping•

AC unity. Nothing else. Epic isn't THAT good imo, and generally get it from the developers' site or steam.

5
cheeks-mcgee•

i only got borderlands 3 for $10 just for that psycho fortnite skin since it was going away around that time i believe

4
Thraxster•

I can't support FOMO based transactions but more power to ye buying into that gimmick.

3
Bhutoray123•

0 cause my card doesn't support intl transactions. Plus steam is too friendly with local payment methods like Paytm

I tend to buy all my games on Epic now.

4
KodiakPL•

Why

0
bitekrOP•

I voted 10 - 20 games. I would have bought more games but the ones I like (Resident Evil , Mortal Combat, F1 some old games) are not available through Epic so I buy them through GOG or Steam. I think Epic needs to work harder to add more games to its library. Steam selection of games is mind blowing.

Borderlands 3

Control

Control DLC

Iron Harvest Deluxe

Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order

Metro Exodus

Mafia 1

Mafia 3

The Outer Worlds

Death Stranding

My next purchase is Far Cry 6.

I am yet to buy Resident Evil Village. I will buy it through Steam but I would definitely buy it through Epic if it was available.

3†
bel3alesblumndif•

And more indie games

1
EyesLikeBuscemi•

I hope they can find a balance adding great indie games and not the heaping mounds of crappy anime porn shovelware that Steam seems to have.

4
00crispybacon00•

So you didn't buy 10-20 games and basically invalidated your own poll. Good job.

-1
bitekrOP•

If you cannot count to 10 then you have more important things to focus on than Epic game store exclusives

-1
Assassin1089•

I have many things i need to upgrade on my pc so i don't really buy anything

3
PantsDownBootyUp•

Subnautica, StarWars and Hades. Subnautica is an amazing game, sure it consumes a lot of time but the exploring is unique! Best single player star wars game there is. Hades is the game you need to play, even if you don't like rogue likes
