We freaked out over this side of the pond when the the EU brought in the Tobacco Products Directive but it does mean we now know exactly what is in e-liquid sold within EU borders.
In England the health authorities even published a fantastic report saying that the risks of vaping were at least 5% that of smoking traditional cigarettes. This week, the UK Government body that regulates medicines etc included vaping as a method that doctors should recommend to patients to get them off cigarettes, with particulat emphasis on pregnant women.
So, great video but it seems that public health bodies on your side of the Atlantic are still getting it badly wrong. I understand the tobacco lobby but even they seem to now be pivoting towards smokeless devices having seen which way the wind is blowing with consumers in western markets (at least).
You've got it all right. We commonly reference the royal college of physicians study which shows vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking cigarettes.
Nobody on our side of the pond will test it. It'll mess up their cherry picked statistics.
watches the video while using my strawberry banana flavored vape
LOL, this is great
Funny concept for a skit, but it drags on way too long. 60 seconds would’ve been plenty to get the joke across.
Oh shit, I thought I posted it here first.
Sorry mate!
But you know what? I think this issue is important enough that it should be posted twice... Hell, it should be stickied.
In fact I'd love to see more advocacy in Canada from this sub.
I'm Canadian, in BC, where they've pretty much fucked it already just with provincial legislation. I'm fairly defeated and expecting that federal regulations are going to be the nail in the coffin for my orders of pods from Ontario. Am currently switching over to snus pouches, which have been even more demonized in the EU and Canada, and I have to order them from Sweden.
Honestly it's easier for me to get codeine here than nicotine in an acceptable form.
And I really go back and forth about complaining to the local MLA, since it was her government that did this...I really love what she does and am so happy she was elected...it seems petty to shit all over her over something like this. But on the other hand, it's absolutely ridiculous.
I would love to have a shop in BC so I can sell 0mg and beg them to charge me. We know all about it. BC, NB. We're all getting fucked.
And what you said about codeine is just fucked too. Out here there's a fentanyl problem. Youth dieing to that and they're worried about fucking guava flavour.
Hell BC is the worst for fentanyl deaths, but they handed it out like candy to my wife when we had our first child.
I don't even care so much about the flavours as much as the strength limitations. It's fucking absurd.
I have a high metabolism/tolerance to stimulants, and take Wellbutrin for depression so it takes a lot for me to get a normal nicotine fix. They cut off the strength to 1.9% which is a joke, and for what reason? So I go buy a pack of cigarettes instead? Like fuck.
Everyone is talking about legalizing and dispensing heroin here to address social problems, while also focusing on severely restricting fucking nicotine...it makes zero sense.
I am fully aware that I am a nicotine addict but there are several ways to make that not be a big deal, yet they take all of those away while still allowing fucking cigarette sales. And not even tobacco companies seem interested in continuing that much longer given the advances in other delivery systems. So I don't understand what the hell is going on here. Terribly misguided.
Holy shit, you are every customer we're fighting for. I wish to hell that even 10% of my customers could know of a person with that story so they can see how important this is and get more people involved.
Don't worry though! If you don't want to take up smoking I'm sure there is a booming black market out there just waiting for you. Stay safe buddy.
I like that it’s more natural because it comes from a plant.
Who knows what is in e-cigarettes? Poison?
We can never know the long term effects of vaping either.
Also, please think of the children (except when it comes to cupcake flavoured vodka or any flavoured cannabis vape the government sells in Canada).

Tobacco is a plant yes , then they add over 600 chemicals dangerous chemicals I might add . E-cigs are nicotine plant derived or synthetic , vegetable glycerin , propylene glycol & flavors. Vaping has been with us 20 years now I'd call that a pretty decent clinical trial. Flavors are great for grown folks . I see your /s ,this indicates sarcasm ? I already typed this message before seeing that , figured I'd go ahead & roll with it .
I see you're a newer redditor, so just to let ya know, yes an "/s" means intended sarcasm.
But also, I hate that arguement, "we don't know the long term effects". Like, yeah we kinda do. We've had at bare minimum a solid 10 years of widespread use with data backing it up as the smarter choice over traditional smoking methods.
Plus, how do they expect long(er) term studies to be done, or even find it reasonable to ban something that hasn't been proven to be as harmful, as it is at the same time, proven to be extremely successful in harm reduction and lowering usage rates of the aforementioned traditional use of tobacco?
