They do not mean the same! You use siguiente mostly when talking about something or someone. I give u this example: remember that tv show about dating people, next? When a guy wouldnt do it ok, girl said "neeext" haha. In that case, next means lit. Siguiente. Or think bout being at the airport waitin, and there is a guy before you. Employee finishes with him, then says "next please" You say después when talking about doing something after you did something. Its more about time itself. Voy a comer y despues darme una ducha. (Im having dinner and after that im having a shower)
thank you
Siguiente is more like the next one on the list, the one that follows, etc
Siguiente is an adjective (next, following), después is an adverb (afterwards). Saludos!
Think of it as:
• Seguir - to follow, thus > siguiente = following
• Después = after
• Próxima = next
Thank you
You're welcome. If you can connect these words to concepts (like a spider web), they'll be much easier to learn and remember. Anterior - Previous, thus Antes = Before. Después = After. Antes and Después go together. Same with primero (first) and ultimo (last).

Siguiente actually means next and después means after.
Thank you so i can say
Después de la cena iré de compras (i will go shopping after dinner)
and
tengo la esquela semana siguiente ( i have school next week)
Tengo escuela (not la, not esquela) , but "tengo clases" sounds more natural. And its LA semana siguiente, so Tengo escuela/tengo clases la semana siguiente
Thank you :)
I will add you can also say “la semana que viene”, “el mes que viene”, etc
Thank you again. This subreddit is great!
