High School Achievements on CV

I personally find it lame. But I have seen a bunch of Ph.D. candidates at top CS schools mention high school achievements( Olympiads, ranks in various exams) on their CVs. It looks to me more like an attempt to add flesh(useless) to the CV. What do you guys think.

Edit: What are your thoughts on adding stuff like spoken languages and hobbies? Would this be considered professional in Academia?
