He said he needed "time to figure out what he wants". Is it weird to text him a month later and ask how he's doing?

I matched with an awesome guy, we would talk on the phone for hours every day, then we started hanging out every other day for about three weeks. We shared many intimate and passionate moments but it really was all over the clothes stuff, we wanted to take it slow 1950s style.

Out of nowhere he texts me and says he needs a break like the title says to, "figure out what he wants right now". He just graduated college, just started therapy and antidepressants, and is torn between staying in this city or moving to New York. It's been about a month now. Is it weird to text him and ask how he is doing?

His situation could be one of two things. Either he wasn't as into me as he thought, and is trying to let me down easy, or he genuinely needs the space to figure things out. I just don't want to be the pathetic desperate one messaging him now if he genuinely doesn't have interest in seeing me anymore. It was just such a vague way to halt what could have been a potential relationship. I know people say all the time, "if they want to see you they will see you," but this kid was awesome and I just don't know what happened and I can't stop thinking about him every day, clearly.

If he's really uninterested in me, I wish he would just say so. I'd rather know I'm never hearing from him again than this past month of "well maybe he'll reach back out when he figures things out".
