I'm going to be straight up with y'all - I just don't have it in me tonight for a full post.
My brain is goop. Flubber. Melted raclette.
Mmmmm. Melted raclette...

Coincidentally this is not too far off from my facial expression at the moment.
Yours truly had a task today at work that he made promises to people to get done by EOD. While not particularly complex the difficulty came with volume instead of an inherent challenge. 467 excel lines of repetition for the same process to be exact. ["Rally that link was not relevant at all..." Well, no, but I bet y'all still enjoyed it!] Yea verily though did I chip away at this challenge from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., only moments ago crossing the final i and dotting the last t.
I know what I said.
Unfortunately this task isn't over, and there's more to come tomorrow, but on a magnitude much lower than what I experienced today. Hope to be back in the swing of things tomorrow night. π
Considering how much of my day the task was taking up I did at least find time to throw myself down a rabbit hole during my lunch break. For the first time in... ever (here at least) I decided to follow my instincts and see where the threads took me. And, after finally connecting a few dots (or thinking I had) I came up with my first DD!
TL;DR: Ford cashed in a bunch of bonds today and I think they are on the verge of significant decline, which could trigger margin calls. Our boy Kenny's own stake in the company is up 962% over the last quarter.
If you're so inclined, give it a look - I hope it makes up for the lack of content here tonight; At least there was something I put out today where my brain wasn't complete mush. π
All that said, I think one or two neurons are still firing up there. My work today gave me pause about... well... the idea of work. If you'll have me, I'd like to go over it in the Cap. But First Thing's First:

Rally's Cap
At some point today while I was tackling this bear of a task I crossed the threshold of "petty anger and dejection at the workplace" to just feeling numb. I wasn't angry. I wasn't fed up. I certainly wasn't happy though either. All I saw was the job to do in front of me, and decided that it would be easier to deal with it now rather than but it off 'til later. A lot of people are counting on this work. Even more so I'm not the only one doing it either. On my team I am surely the most experienced as it all is technically my responsibility, but with the volume as it is with a deadline of tomorrow afternoon my boss, my team, and our partners on the matter understood how fucking bananas this effort was.
Seriously it's to the point where I am strongly advocating we as a company never go down this path again, even though this is something we've always historically done. Blame our new Salesforce platform I suppose. Doesn't change the fact we are trying to shove square pegs into round holes.
My fingers felt like they were moving through molasses as I checked off box after box. Miserable monotony... is this really how work should be? How life should be lived?
And then, in a profoundly unexpected manner, I found my own answer to that question(s)...
No. It shouldn't.
As I sat in the same chair I write from now (sometimes it's just easier to do this from the work computer) and contemplated this, looking at row after row of things that ultimately don't matter, I realized how fucked up our sense place in the workplace is.
I just voluntarily gave up 10.5 hours of my life to ensure a few people save a few bucks on an upcoming sale. How the actual hell does that contribute in any way towards living a full, fulfilling life?
It doesn't. Ancestors that lived on the Savannah Plains were living more constructive lives than that.
And so I sat there in the realization that it doesn't, no, shouldn't matter. My primal instinct told me this isn't the way to spend my days. For the first time I think I started to understand - work is death.
Death of the mind, body, and soul. Ok sure not ALL work is this way - kudos to you who find genuine joy in waking up everyday to meet the challenges that await you. But, for many of us, myself included, all it is is the chains that bind us to a life of paltry reward.
Which is why, now, as my fingers tap along the keys, I can't tell you how vindicating it feels to hodl GME. Somehow, someway, we found the breaker of chains. Dammit, that makes me so fucking happy.
So, no, I don't look forward to dealing with this task again tomorrow. And no, it doesn't excuse me for not looking for a better situation now as we wait for the MOASS. Yet, now seeing the rising sun in front of me I am more determined than ever to see this thing through, lest I fall to be a shade of contempt against the suffocating sea of abject civil responsibility.
Let's Go. GME to the Fucking Moon. πππππ¨βππ

Keep being great folks. Tomorrow is a new day.
Have some fun. Give someone a hug. Tell someone you love them.
And hodl. Don't forget to hodl.
