How to give a hamster haircut

My syrian hamsters has long fur especially towards his behind it almost looks like he was 3 tails lol but I noticed that bedding or poop would get stuck at the end occasionally. Does anyone know how to go about safely trimming his fur? I don't want to accidentally hurt him. Thank you
