Car was repossessed & no one can get ahold of the 3rd party that took it.

As the title said, my car was taken yesterday. I have already made the necessary payment with my leinholder. However, neither myself not my leinholder can reach the 3rd party that took my car. There was apparently a note in my account that my car was taken to a different lot, however the 2nd lot has yet to receive my car. Tomorrow will be 3rd day without my car, & I'm sick to my stomach thinking of all the worse case scenarios. Called my local PD, they told me they can't do anything. Called my county sherif, & they just referred me back to my PD. Can someone please give me some advice on this? I can't stop worrying about it. Thank you. I'm in Iowa if that helps. TIA
