Relatives have me questioning...

Ugh, I don't know how to make this story short so you'll just have to have all the mess.

I'm 153lbs, have been between 158 and 151 for about 18 months. It's exasperating existing issues with my heart (palpitations), hips and knees. I've tried a few different diets in the past 18 months and started weight watchers in March. Nothing I'm particularly managing to stick to for more than a few weeks so I'm never getting below that 151 mark.

Then relarives came to visit. Step-mom tells me that I'll never lose so to stop trying and save for surgery. Then mother-in-law phones husband and suggests I see a doctor because my house is mess, my kids play too many video games and my "Vast weight gain" is a concern (I've weight the same the last 3 or 4 times she's seen me)

So I'm looking for opinions while I decide what to do. Do I just need to knuckle down and actually put the effort in (my ww subscription runs till October and I've not been exercising beyond the odd 15 minute walk) or should I make a doctor's appointment?

Not gonna lie, I don't feel like I've done all that I can to lose weight particularly with exercising. And my doctor has never mentioned my weight being an issue except that it'll exasperate my preexisting stuff.
