R4 Card Trouble - DS won't turn on while inserted

Hi everyone,

I got this R4 card today and it is giving me an insane amount of trouble. It originally worked and I was able to play a DS game on it just fine, but after taking the SD card out to delete a lot of the shovelware games, it suddenly does not work anymore. I set my system date back 10 years to avoid a timebomb too. What's happening is: my DS lite does not turn on or even have the light turn on for a second while this card is inserted. It doesn't work even with the SD card taken out of it, so I doubt it's a firmware problem. The problem isn't with the DS lite either, it turns on just fine without the card inserted and with legit game cards. I tried this same card in my DSi too and it shut off as soon as I put the card in. Rebooting the DSi without the card was also weird- it would turn on, lag, go black, then finish starting the rest of the way. I'm not sure why this card is suddenly not working, and why the DS lite just won't turn on at all with it inserted.
