[MS] New Supervisor is running dad out of his position by sending him home, micromanaging all his tasks, and questioning his sanity. Big boss is getting roped into it and we're playing catchup with all the accusations she's making. What options do we have?

Employment Law

Throwaway account for privacy. TLDR at the end.

I'm writing this for my father whos been having the issue. State is Mississippi.

Background information: My father has been working for a small hospital for the last 40+ years moving up in maintenance to eventually be over the maintenance department with a few guys under him. He's very personable, has a great relationship with everyone, has a great temperament when situations come up, and has absolutely loved going to his job every day. The hospital was bought out by a larger hospital system and all their workings slowly being integrated into the larger hospital's procedures over the last few years. His boss is now the maintenance director at large hospital just like all the other smaller hospitals they've taken over. The transition was relatively smooth and the only major change was his losing a couple of his guys to other in-network hospitals that were lacking.

Fast forward to last year. A new supervisor was hired in by large hospital to work at small hospital and have oversight on personnel. I'm not sure where it came from, but it seems like she didn't take a liking to my father from day 1. She's been giving him a hard time about not getting certain jobs done, wasting company time by intentionally taking longer on other jobs, and just in general nitpicking at everything he's been doing. He's done well in keeping up and proving he's doing everything by the book and getting all the jobs done within time. It's escalated to her requiring him alone to provide an itemized list of everything he does with times, something none of the other employees are required to do.

One day a couple months ago it stepped to another level. She wanted to watch one of his repair jobs from start to finish, then ended up stopping him halfway through because she says it was taking too long and sent him home for the day and said she would call him later when she was ready for him to come back. It was a shock as the escalation finally went from just making the work harder to sending him home for the first time. My parents waited at home for 2 days with no contact before he contacted his boss at larger hospital who was completely in the dark about all this supervisor had done and told him to return to work the next day. A few more days went by until the supervisor tried to send him home again, but he went to his office and called boss at large hospital who told him to continue working and he would talk to supervisor. Boss also told him at this point to call him anytime something like this came up as he was over my dad, not supervisor. She didn't take kindly to this and has been trying to make his work life as difficult as possible ever since with boss having to intervene a few times.

Fastforward to today. An unscheduled meeting was called with Supervisor, Boss, and another hospital admin. In the meeting they shared a list of shortcomings and events that Supervisor has been making over time mostly focusing on him not being able to remember other employees, common procedures, etc. He's in his 60's, but has no sign of memory problems and is still in generally good health. He asked for a copy of the list of issues, but they refused to let him see it or get the copy. He offered to get checked out at the local clinic for memory issues, and he passed with flying colors. They wanted to double check so are now requiring him to visit a specialist at larger hospital to clear this issue definitively. We're expecting these results to come back good as well.

Our fear is that when this is cleared up, she will be at it again to try to find another reason to fire him. He has 3 years left to retirement and we're all just trying to hold out until he can get there. Shortly after Supervisor was hired on a comment was made "there's no way you'll make it 3 more years, I'll make sure of that." It just seems like he's not going to be able to keep playing this game before she finally gets him fired.

I've had them keep a list of dates and events the last few months as incidents have progressed. Is there anything else we can do or document to stay prepared for the worst, and are there any options for relief we can look into. My tinfoil hat seems to believe she's trying to push him out and get someone else in that positions which would significantly impact his retirement before it's time.

Thanks in advance for reading the wall of text and for any help!

TLDR, New Supervisor has spent the last year picking away at Dad's work sending him home (without authority) and trying to get him fired before retirement kicks in ~3 years. Incidents are escalating. How should we prepare for the worst case besides documenting and waiting? Do we have any other possible paths to get through this?
