Should you not play on assisted?

I’m playing for the first time, halfway through Leon A, and I saw someone on this subreddit saying not to play assisted. I’m curious as to why this is? I probably won’t change mode regardless considering this is the first game I’ve played that uses guns instead of swords and I’m also a massive wimp when it comes to horror, but I’m just wondering the reasoning behind this take.
